IT News & Updates 10/13/17

For the most part, this has been a good week for our connectivity. There were no interruptions to our internet and no drops to classes. There are still some issues with bridging and last minute call-in number changes, but these are out of our control. In addition to the 480- and 780- prefixes, they now have 771- to help handle the increasing number of meetings/classes. so be sure to double check your number before heading into a meeting since the changes may be last minute.

Large conference room: AMS successfully updated the system software and firmware. And with that, the front cameras (facing students) should now be working. We also have the ability to switch between Instructor view (back camera facing the presenter) and the Student view. The instructor camera also has two presets: zoomed close and full room (closer than original default). These can be modified if needed, or additional presets added.

Stockwell room: Everything seems to be working well this week aside from a few bridging problems. This room also underwent software and firmware updates.

Other meeting rooms: The older Polycom units seem to be working. However, the AMS IT Tech is verifying that their systems have the correct unit identification linked to the room they reside in. There was a concern that they may have a redundancy in what equipment is in the Stockwell room. this could account for some of the bridging problems for meetings in Stockwell.
