Phishing Examples

We all get tons of email each day and often don’t have a lot of time to sort through and read everything thoroughly. It seems like it’s those times when you have the least amount of time or have other things on your mind that you receive phishing emails. Most phishing emails are designed to instill a feeling of fear and urgency that you must act immediately and click on the provided link if you want to retain access to your account. The best way to ward against phishing is to be forwarned. Know what to look for so you can recognize the email as a malicious attempt to scare you into giving them your information. The WSU IT Security website contains information to help you recognize malicious emails and what to do when you receive one. You can visit their Phishing webpage here: https://security.wsu.edu/phishing/

To help you identify some common phishing emails that have come through WSU, I have built a Phishing Gallery. You can view the gallery here. If you receive a novel phishing attempt send me a screenshot so I can add it to the gallery.
