myWSU Update on Current Status

(reposted from sysmgrs email list)

What is the issue?

The Enterprise Systems team has been working with Oracle to identify and resolve the access issues our end users have been experiencing within myWSU. We have had multiple security patches installed over the past few weeks and those patches have introduced access issues or changed the behavior on some of our pages. We have been able to resolve all but one of those access issues and continue to work with Oracle to resolve the remaining issue. However, there is a work around that addresses the issue and allows users to continue their work in myWSU.  Here is the issue and the work around.

Current Known Issue

  • Upon logging into myWSU, many users are getting logged out when they navigate to a Main Menu item or select the Student Center, Faculty Center or 3rd Party access pages.  The behavior of the myWSU system is that the page will initially begin to load and the user may see the content on that page but before they can access any information on that page, the system logs the user out and displays either the myWSU log out page (Page Image 1 below) or the WSU Oops we encountered an error page (Page Image 2 below).  This issue only occurs the first time a user clicks on a menu item or navigates within myWSU. Once the work around below is implemented by the user, the user has full access and does not get logged off when navigating within myWSU during their session.

Work Around for the Issue

  • When users experience this log out issue, they will just need to click on the Return to myWSU link or the my.wsu.edu link on the page and they will return to myWSU. Both of these pages are Oracle or WSU owned pages and the links are safe and accurate. Clicking the link will restore user access and full functionality on that page and all other myWSU pages during their active session.  Users may need to repeat this process the next time they log into myWSU if they experience the log out issue again when navigating within myWSU.

Message:

Please feel free to forward this update to others you feel need to know about the work around for this known issue. We hope this will assist with your customer support efforts as users may need to apply this work around until Oracle develops the action plan to resolve this issue and we can implement the fix in our production environments.
