Welcome Claudia Baldassi

Please take a minute to welcome Claudia Baldassi to WSU. She comes from Italy to pursue her Ph.D. in Horticulture. Her motivation in pursuing research in the field of horticulture stems from her commitment to developing sustainable food production and food processing methods. She has a B.S. in Environmental Science and an M.S. in Agricultural Science and Technology. Her M.S. culminated with her thesis, developed at Oregon State University. The dynamic and cutting-edge research environment she discovered in the United States gave her a sense that the United States would be a great place to get her Ph.D.

Her research at WSU will focus on apple rootstock evaluation and improvement of apple production and quality. She will be based out of Wenatchee and be working with the Musacchi group.

In her free time, she likes practicing sports, traveling, reading and cooking. She loves speaking different languages and learning about other cultures.
