Welcome Aalok

Please welcome Aalok to Achour’s lab.

My name is Aalok Mishra and I am from Nepal. I pursued M.S in Agriculture, specializing in Mycology and Plant Pathology from Banaras Hindu University, India in 2023. During my master’s research, I focused on understanding the plant growth – promoting traits of phytobiomes and their antagonistic mechanisms against fungal pathogens. After completing my M.S , I worked as a Molecular Lab Instructor in the National Wheat Research Program under Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) , where I was actively involved in training programs and educating farmers on disease identification and integrated disease management practices for sustainable agricultural production. However, I realized that the research experience I had gained during my master’s was not sufficient to fully address the complex challenges faced by farmers. This realization motivated me to pursue a PhD and collaborate with expert scientists to develop more effective solutions. I am excited to join Dr. Achour Amiri’s lab for a PhD in Plant Pathology, where I will gain valuable research experience investigating diseases of major tree fruits, with a focus on the applied epidemiology of key pathogens in orchards and their link to post- harvest diseases of pome fruits. In my free time, I enjoy reading and enjoying the outdoors.
