Shashika joins TFREC as a Postdoc

Shashika spent the last few years as a graduate student in the plant pathology department. We are now honored to have her continue her work as a postdoc at TFREC. Shashika will be doing research and outreach under the Tree Fruit Research extension program specifically focusing on alternatives to apple replant disease (ARD) management with principal investigators, WSU- Extension Specialist, Tianna DuPont, and USDA ARS Research Scientist Dr. Mark Mazzola. She will be part of the team conducting a project carried out in three representative locations (North, South, and Central) of Washington State, both commercial and experimental research orchards on using Brassicaceae seed meal amendments and anaerobic soil disinfestation to control (ARD). While involved in project planning, implementation, data acquisition, and analysis, she will also be disseminating the research findings with growers and research community via field days, grower’s meetings, and scientific meetings. Shashika is very inspired that she has the opportunity to see the application of her research in commercial level trials within a short period of time.
