New Postdoc for Betsy’s Lab

Please welcome Dylan Beal to Betsy’s lab.

He has a PhD from University of California, Berkeley and an MS from Montpellier SupAgro and the University of Turin.  He received a BS from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.  His past research included describing the ecology of spittlebug vectors of Xylella fastidiosa in California North Coast vineyards, comparing the transmission efficiencies of spittlebug and sharpshooter leafhopper vectors of X. fastidiosa, assessing the seasonal abundance and infectivity of leafhopper vectors of Flavescence dorée phytoplasma in Northern Italy, and assessing the survival and effectiveness of natural enemies in the management of greenhouse pests.  At the TFREC, he is looking forward to working with the Beers and Northfield labs to implement and assess different strategies in the area-wide management of Spotted Wing Drosophila in Washington cherries and blueberries.  He also excited to explore how changes in SWD management practices may affect the management of vectors of X disease phytoplasma.
