Tia Fathia is joining Lee Kalcsits group as a visiting scholar. She grew up in Surabaya, Indonesia and in 2014 finished her BS in Agriculture with specialization in Plant Physiology from University of Brawijaya, Malang, Indonesia. She is a Master of Plant Science student at the Wageningen University, the Netherlands with specialization in greenhouse horticulture (Horticulture and Product Physiology). She came to the US to do an internship with Dr. Lee Kalcsits as the last part of her Master study. She met Lee during her time as an intern at the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission in 2015. Her internship will be focusing on image processing of CT scanned apples. This will include quantifying the differences in structure between fruit that is affected by postharvest disorders and healthy fruit, and fruit from trees exposed to abiotic stress from the CT scan image.
