IT Review 10/6/17

The good news is that we have no new problems – at least reported to me.  And, Nick was able to remotely fix the issue with the front cameras in the large conference room. Our students can now be seen at other sites.

Video conferencing & internet – We still have the ongoing issue with the k-20 connections. Last week’s repair seems to have improved things. And, I have not heard any reports of people losing internet connections since last week’s k-20 repairs. The technician for AMS has been running diagnostics after hours on both Stockwell and the large conference rooms. The report is that all systems are functioning as expected. Is this because it’s after hours with low traffic? Unknown. What they can tell us is that for the one class that has the worst problem (sorry Sarah!), drops have also been noted at some of the other remote locations.  It is likely that these other sites are on the same k-20 trunk line.  I’ve been told that meetings anc classes this week went smoothly without any ‘drops’. The only thing was one session that couldn’t connect initially. This was likely due to the bridge. A quick call to campus got it running.

Library – using “searchit” seems to be working. Let me know if you have problems.
