IT News & Updates 3/27/19

I know it’s been a bit tricking lately navigating the new WSU Wireless and dealing with the Okta password resets. But it sounds like most of you have managed to make it work.

I will be heading out of town for a couple of weeks for a combined conference-vacation (3/29-4/9). But don’t panic, I’m going to leave you with a few tips and resources for dealing with any issues while I’m gone.

  1. Phones: if you have an urgent problem with your phone, email a support ticket to cit.support@wsu.edu giving them as much information as you can. It will likely be assigned to Jim Buscher.
If you need to have settings changed on your phone, could you please wait until I am back on April 9th? Change requests require a bit more detailed information then you would generally have access to.
  2. Internet: If you have problems with connection issues, send a support ticket to cit.support@wsu.edu (cc me so I’m aware of the issue) and give them as much detail about the problem as you can.
  3. WSU Wireless: Some of you are still having issues getting your desktops and phones connected to the network. I found these instructions that may help you: https://kb.wsu.edu/page.php?id=70203. If that doesn’t help, you will need to submit a ticket to cit.support.
  4. Okta: Most of you have probably already received your Okta email with the active link. But they are only about halfway through changing all of the WSU clients over. So, if you haven’t already gotten the email, you will. If you received the email and either deleted it or ignored it, you only have a week to use the activation link before it expires. If this happens, you will need to request a new Okta activation link from crimsonservicedesk@wsu.edu. If you have questions about Okta visit this information page: https://its.wsu.edu/okta/#changes. You can also contact cit.support with any questions.
  5. Other stuff: I will be checking my email periodically, but not regularlyI’ll try to get back to you when I can. But you can also try Megan or JErry. If they can’t help you, they may be able to point you in the right direction. And yes, there is always cit.support. They really do want to help.

That’s it for now. See you when I get back.
