Hi Ricardo Lima

Jose Ricardo Lima Pinto is joining DuPont Lab as a Post Doc.

Ricardo obtained his PhD (2018-2022) in Agricultural Entomology from Sao Paulo State University (Brazil) with part of research developed at Montana State University (United States).

His research focused on the use of applied insect ecology, precision pest management and digital systems to develop food production practices that reduce reliance on pesticides in ways that are both environmentally sound and economically feasible. To accomplish with this, Ricardo developed research that aimed to use remote sensing and gas exchange parameters to characterize leaf responses to herbivory and apply this information to optimize the economic injury levels and the ideal moment for control decision-making in agroecosystems. Also, he developed the basis of applying attract and kill strategies to manage lepidopterous in Brazilian peanuts. Finally, over the last two years Ricardo was in the industry sector in charge to lead the digital automated data collection process and real time presentation thought dynamic dashboards for the company.

Ricardo`s work in DuPont Lab will focus on develop a pilot scouting network which will provide weekly pest and natural enemy information to participating pear growers to support effective implementation of pear IPM.
