Hi Joseph

Please welcome Joseph Katon to Achour’s Lab.

Joseph has studied molecular biology at CSU Monterey Bay and at that time worked on the molecular characterization of Santa Cruz fungi at the CSUMB Plant Pathology lab, researched the fungicide resistance of cucurbit downy mildew during his summer internship at North Carolina State University, and studied emerging patterns of Impatiens necrotic spot virus in lettuce at the USDA in Salinas, CA.
From his experiences, he hopes to continue working on disease management and molecular characterization on emerging pathogens like with Nectria rot on pome fruit in Dr. Amiri’s lab. But is open to any new ideas or interests he may find out about later. He also hopes to develop his critical thinking and communication skills during his time at WSU as he want to teach in biological sciences some
