New Graduate Student for Evans Lab

Please give a warm welcome to Zara York.  She will be joining the Evans Lab as a Graduate Student in May 2019.  Zara received her masters and bachelor’s degree’s from Washington State University.  She majored in Agricultural Biotechnology and began undergraduate research in Dr. Pete Jacoby’s lab working with reduced irrigation rates in wine and juice grapes through direct root-zone irrigation.  She transitioned to Dr. Karen Sanguinet’s lab where she preformed her master’s research in crop science, using the model species Brachypodium Distachyon.  She worked on gene characterization of abiotic stress responsive genes, as well as the identification of genes that regulate seedling root-growth rate using molecular and bioinformatics based approaches.
