The protection of property is of secondary concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If You Spot a Fire<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Sound the alarm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alert&nbsp;your co-workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close all lab &amp; office doors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exit the building<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notify the fire department (call 911)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Head to the flagpole<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fighting a Fire<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You are not expected to put your life in jeopardy to attempt to contain a fire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fight a fire only if:\n<ul>\n<li>The fire department&nbsp;has been notified of the fire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fire is small and confined to the area of origin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have a way out and can fight the fire with your back to the exit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are trained and confident about using a fire extinguisher<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a rule of thumb, do not attempt to fight a fire if the flame height exceeds four feet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remember <strong>PASS<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pull<\/strong> the pin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong> at the base of the fire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Squeeze<\/strong> the handle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sweep<\/strong> from side to side<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fire Prevention<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The most basic element of fire control lies in prevention.
